Optimistic Duration is an estimate of the shortest possible time required to complete an activity, assuming that everything proceeds better than expected. It accounts for all known variables that could affect performance but assumes minimal disruption or risk.
This value is a critical input in three-point estimating and is used to calculate the expected duration in methods like PERT (Program Evaluation and Review Technique).
